Description
Historic 4 bedroom home located in the heart of downtown Cody!
1037 Rumsey Avenue, Cody
Monthly Rental We want to invite you to stay at the historic Hargraves House built in 1906 by wealthy sheep farmer Reuben C. Hargraves. It is believed that the future Mrs. Hargraves wouldn''t marry Mr. Hargraves and move to Cody unless he built her a house just like hers in Illinois. The home was later used in 1918 as a setting for the silent movie Hellcat starring Geraldine Farrar. The Hargraves lived in the house until 1929. There have only been 6 owners since. The home is nearly all original according to photos taken at the time of construction and has been well preserved and maintained while also offering modern amenities and first class comfort. Relax and sit on the large front porch with a cold lemonade or have a family barbecue on the large rear patio in the shade of century old trees, or even play a game of cards on the basket porch on the side of the house. The house is situated on a corner lot consisting of 3 city lots so there is plenty of grass and garden areas to enjoy. It is located just one block from the World Famous Buffalo Bill Cody Museums which features 5 amazing museums. The home is located one block away from the historical downtown of Cody which features numerous shops and restaurant as well as art galleries, antique stores and western outfitters as well as the Buffalo Bill Cody city park which has a playground, mini golf and tennis courts as well as summer country music concerts in its amphitheater. A major attraction downtown is the nightly gunfight in front of the Irma Hotel, named for Buffalo Bill Cody''s daughter. While here in the summer, be sure to enjoy the Cody Rodeo because Cody is Rodeo! Every year, the Cody Stampede runs from July 1st-4th and coincides with Cody''s Independence Day parade held on July 3rd and 4th. Also, be sure to enjoy white water rafting, horseback riding, world class fly fishing, mountain biking, hunting and hiking all within minutes away. If you decide to visit Yellowstone National Park, it is a scenic one hour drive west to the east entrance of Yellowstone. Be sure to look for wildlife including bears, deer, moose and buffalo as well as wonders such as the Buffalo Bill Cody dam and lake, scenic mountains, waterfalls, rivers and geysers. Cody has its very own airport, or fly into Billings, Montana, just 2 hours drive North. There are 3 bedrooms with queen beds including the master bedroom. There is a set of bunkbeds in the cowboy room for your little wranglers. A full bath with garden tub is located on the second bath and a half-bath is located on the main floor. AmenitiesHistoric Home
