North Fork Anglers Guided Fishing Trips

Choose from walk/wade trips, float trips, horseback wilderness trips, walk-in pack trips, float tube trips, combination hunting / fishing trips or custom designed itineraries. Every trip is tailored to suit the needs, expectations and experience levels of each angler in the party. North Fork Anglers` guides provide fly fishing instruction and assistance with casting techniques, fly presentation, streamside entomology, catch and release ethics and more. Most importantly, your guide will put you over trout - every day - so you can catch trout while learning new skills on the water. A bent rod, or line peeling off a spool, is a great reward for doing everything right. Your guide will be there to assist in the landing and release for a quick photo. North Fork Anglers specializes in taking neophyte anglers to the rivers and streams in the area and welcome them into this tightly bound fly fishing `family` of specialized anglers. North Fork Anglers has been guiding fly fisher men and women in the Greater Yellowstone/Cody Wyoming region since 1984. During the past 20+ years, we have made lots of friends and have fine-tuned our guide skills to assist every angler`s skill level. North Fork Anglers is also an Orvis Endorsed Outfitter, which assures you of our responsibility to give you the trip of a life time, no matter how big or small the `trophy`. Experience the beauty and excitement of fishing in the Cody Wyoming area.

Spelunking in Spirit Mountain Cave

Spelunking in Spirit Mountain Cave

Discovered by a bobcat hunter named Ned Frost in 1908, Spirit Mountain Cave was designated as a national monument by President Taft the following year. Due in part to the fact that this place is not especially easy to reach, this designation was dropped in the 1940`s. The cave was commercially operated for a brief time in the 1950`s and 1960`s. Today, the entrance is gated off and the key is controlled by the BLM, which requires a permit for entry into cave. There are likely undiscovered rooms and passageways in this cave, and it is theorized that it might be possible to go all the way through the mountain or down to the Shoshone River. On the southwest part of the mountain, the topographic maps show a cavern entrance at 5980 feet, but this was sealed off with concrete in 1947. During construction of the Shoshone Canyon Conduit (one of the water outlets from Buffalo Bill Dam) through Cedar Mountain in the 1930`s, several caverns and passageways containing hydrogen sulfide gas were encountered. To reach the main cave entrance, park at the sign before the blue gate and hike for about a quarter of a mile down the trail. A permit and a key is required to enter the Spirit Mountain Cave, and may be obtained from the BLM Office in Cody, which is located at 1002 Blackburn Ave.
