Description

Comfortable, modern Guest House on a small (240 acre) horse and cattle ranch. Enjoy the panoramic views from the front porch of the Beartooth and Absaroka mountains as well as Heart Mountain to the south. Kick back and spend time watching the wildlife - eagles, hawks, antelope, white tail and mule deer are frequently on the property, and the occasional coyote passes through. Fishing on the Clark's Fork River is nearby as is hiking in Clark's Fork Canyon and other mountain trails. Look for elk, mountain goats, big horn sheep and bear in the nearby mountains. Cody and Powell are each 30 miles away, the scenic Chief Joseph Highway is 15 miles away and takes you to the Northeast entrance of Yellowstone after a breathtaking mountain drive. (You may see more wildlife on this drive than in the park!).

The cabin is available during winter months and conveniently located 1.5 hours from Cooke City and "Top of the World" snowmobile trails.

Bring your horses on vacation with you - there are corrals and pasture available and numerous trail rides locally, ranging from mountain terrain to "old west" badlands.

The Cody Lodging Company was great to work with. After driving 1,700 miles from East Tennessee we were pleased to enter a rental property that was clean, well stocked and ready to relax in. Thank you Cody Lodging for a GREAT experience. You will be our first call for our next Wyoming Vacation!
Property
The property was quiet and relaxing. Overall, it was nice. We were a little surprised to find that were were only a few steps from the owners front door, but in the end we never really noticed. It would be nice if the owners would invest a new grill, some pea gravel and some field stone pavers to dress up the fire pit area so renters can enjoy the Wyoming evenings their family.

What an amazing property set in the middle of amazing scenery! Not only was the view out of every window beautiful, the cabin itself is an adorable, well equipped home for our vacation. Everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and easy was included! We decided on our first night there that we would definitely be back in the coming years. Exceeded our expectations!

Love the location and view; the house was well-stocked with all necessities, including DVD movies and excellent information about the area. Our daughter loved visiting with the horses on the property every day! Quiet beautiful place yet close to owners for conversation and any needs. Thankful for wi-fi so we could use our phones through the internet since Verizon service doesn't work at the ranch.

I rented via vrbo. However. If I could have dealt directly with the rental company to begin with, I would have. Great communication, exceptional understanding during CV19 times, clear directions... hosts were wonderful also, without being intrusive.
Property
Excellent property, bigger than the pictures portray. Clean, modern, has everything you need for a wonderful stay. Pictures displayed by the owner are wonderful. Ideal for couple or parents and young children. We found the washer and dryer on the last day, but did not need it.. pleasant surprise if we were planning a longer stay. Had excellent cell service which surprised us. Area is wonderful, big skies, beautiful mountains, so peaceful. Far from everything which we enjoyed, but still cody and Yellowstone and big horns are easily accessible. We will be back to the area, not sure when, but for bang for the buck, one of the nicest cabins we have stayed it.

The owner was so fun and interesting, we loved talking to her and taking recommendations about what we should see in the area. She had such amazing stories about her experiences on photography excursions, and seeing her and her husbands pictures around the cabin were such a nice touch.

The house was quiet and had everything we needed. We felt safe and loved staying in Clark. The wildlife on the property was a nice experience, we saw bunnies every morning. The view was astounding, and being on a working ranch was such a neat experience. We got to spend every evening with the horses, and the stars were beautiful! The property owners were very polite and helpful. During our 2 wk stay, they came by a couple of times to see if we needed anything, but pretty much kept their distance even though they live right on the property a short distance away. Overall, I would highly recommend this guesthouse "cabin" to everyone, especially if you have dogs and I will definitely stay here if we vacation in Wyoming again.

Notes

Welcome to the North Forty Guest House!

We are happy you have chosen to visit Clark, Wyoming for your vacation. Below are a few notes regarding the Guest House and Clark to help make your visit more enjoyable.

This is a working ranch and people will be coming and going to check on the animals
and watering. Feel free to hike around and enjoy the place, but please be aware that the horses and cattle are all large and unpredictable. The horses in particular can be very enthusiastic about visitors and some nip when they want attention. They are best petted over the fence for your own safety. They mean well, but can be pushy.

We have 240 acres, 120 on each side of the gravel road after you enter the ranch. The property is contained by almost totally uninterrupted barbed wire fences on all four sides (one gate in the SW corner, and one in the SE corner). Enjoy hiking around the property but remember this basic rule: if you find a gate open, leave it open. If you find a gate closed, leave it closed.

There are several waterways and "ponds" on the property. None of these are natural - they are all man-made irrigation features. We would not recommend swimming or letting animals or children play in these.

WILDLIFE: There are pronghorn antelope and deer (white tail and mule) on the property. They tend to hang out in the Southeast area when they are not eating in the large field to the front. Deer and antelope abound! In the sky you will likely see red tail hawks, golden eagles, crows, geese, sandhill cranes, chukkers and other smaller birds. We have never seen a bear on our land but they are reported along the river frequently. Two wolves were seen on the southeast pasture a few years ago. Please realize you are literally on the edge of a state forest and in the Yellowstone ecosystem. In the canyon there are
often mountain goats, big horn sheep and a mountain lion was recently spotted.

Children/Pets - Please keep children and pets under your control and supervision at all times. There are rattlesnakes and other hazards. Dogs chasing wildlife is strictly prohibited in Wyoming.

Cell Service/WiFi - It is unlike either will be available at the Guest House. However, if you go to the back porch of the main house there is a cell booster right inside and you might get a signal.

Activities: If you like to fish, you can obtain a license at the Edelweiss on the main highway. There is a public access fishing area on the Yellowstone River on the Main Road you came in on.

The Clark's Fork Canyon has great hiking and fishing opportunities.

Please note the following additional fees apply to every rental:

- A lodging tax is assessed on your rent rate.
- A cleaning fee is charged based on the size of the unit.
- A $39 damage insurance policy provides $3,000 in damage protection during your stay. You may decline this charge, but will be assessed a minimum $250 refundable deposit.
